Tracking of Termites Nest

Recently I have received an email from one of my readers, seeking advice on how to track termites nest. 

1) First of all, you shall identify what type of species are you targeting. 

2) Do termites identification. 

    Steps in doing termites identification: -

    a) Look for termites soldiers.

        Base on the Photo 1, termites with mandible (darker colour) are the soldiers (Photo 2).

     b) Termites identification.

        Under the microscope, check out where is the mandible of a termite and start identification.

         Termites mandibles are vary in shapes and by identifying it, it tells you type of species.

3) Understand the biological of the identified species.

4) Termites nest can be found as shown below: -

    a) External: Termites mounds. Check out Photo 6 on where is the nest located.

     b) External: Termites nest under the earth

          Yellow patches are the termites nest. If you would like to lure or check out the presence of termites               nest within your neighbourhood, you can try the method as shown in Photo 8.

         Bait tube comes later when you start seeing termites activity and you would like to treat the infestation.

  1. Well you really shared great steps for termite’s identification. Now I will also follow these steps to find termite’s in my home. I usually hire Termite inspection port macquarie team to find termites or pests in my home every alternate month, so that treatment can be done at same time.
